Pop icon Madonna has revealed that she and Elton John have finally made peace after years of tension.
In a heartfelt post on social media, Madonna shared that she went to see Elton perform on Saturday Night Live and ended up reconnecting with him backstage.
Their beef goes back years, with Elton John publicly criticizing Madonna’s music and performances several times.
In 2004, he slammed her for lip-syncing during shows, and again in 2012, he called her “a nightmare” and “fairground stripper.” Madonna mostly stayed quiet about the drama, but fans always knew there was tension.
Now, that seems to be over. Madonna wrote, “We finally buried the hatchet! I went to see Elton John perform on SNL this weekend!! WOW.”
She recalled how seeing Elton live back in high school inspired her to become an artist. “It was an unforgettable performance that helped me understand the power of music,” she said.
Madonna admitted it hurt over the years to know someone she looked up to had been so openly critical. But when she saw him at SNL, she decided to go backstage.
“When I met him, the first thing out of his mouth was, ‘Forgive me.’ Within minutes, we were hugging,” she shared.
To make it even more special, Elton told Madonna he had written a song for her and wanted to collaborate.
Looks like after all these years, the two legends are finally on the same page.
