Amanda Seyfried, famous for musicals, has been taking on darker roles lately.
In an interview with THR while promoting her new series Long Bright River, she was asked if her happy singing and dancing days are over.
"No, no and no. I have lots of singing and dancing coming out,” she said.

She shared that right after Long Bright River, she worked on a musical called Mona Fastvold’s Ann Lee, though it’s a darker one.
She explained why she’s drawn to these roles. "Here’s the thing, life is dark and hard and scary. I love comedy, I really do," she said.
"But also I just love breeding a kind of awareness, compassion in other people by playing these roles."
Amanda added that she’s not afraid to explore tough stories. "I don’t fear going to the dark places, for the sake of telling a real story, because life is dark. And by looking at the dark we also can appreciate the light, you know?" she concluded.
In another interview, the 39-year-old actress spoke about her 2009 movie Jennifer’s Body.
She praised the film’s special effects and stunts but wasn’t happy with how it was promoted. "The marketing sucked, it just did. And we all agree," she said.
She felt the marketing team made it seem like a cheap, gory movie. “The marketing team cheapened it like it was just a gory romp," she noted.
“I think they ruined it, and I think Karyn and Diablo were a really good team."
