Meghan Markle Criticized for ‘Trying to Be Relatable’ in New Instagram Video

Meghan Markle is facing criticism after posting her first Instagram Reel on her newly created account.

In the video, the 43-year-old Duchess of Sussex thanked singer Billie Eilish for helping with LA wildfire relief efforts.

However, branding expert Hayley Knight believes the post feels “false and orchestrated” to make Meghan seem relatable to younger audiences.

A social media expert also described the video as a “clear nod to the ‘TikTok-ification’” of content, saying Meghan is trying to build a “personality-driven” online presence.

Knight pointed out that the video was a “very stylistic, intentional attempt” to connect with social media users.

She noted Meghan’s use of informal language, including saying she feels “old,” as a way to appeal to younger viewers.

She also said Meghan’s casual, unedited style was meant to feel authentic but added, “Her monologue doesn’t feel very natural.

"You can tell she’s slightly out of her depth, and I can imagine she’s been informed to create this video based on the situation.”
