Pop icon Britney Spears has opened up about a frightening incident earlier this year that left her with burns and nearly sent her to the emergency room.
The 42-year-old singer shared the story in a September 30 update, revealing that six months ago, she was burned while lighting her fireplace.
In a video, Britney recounted the moment, saying, "I was in my room and I turned the fire on, and all of a sudden, it blew up in my face."
The singer admitted that previous incidents with the fireplace had made her cautious, often calling security to handle it for her.
However, this time, she decided to light it herself—a decision that led to unfortunate results.
“I threw the whole thing in there, and it blew into my face," she said. The explosion not only burned her but also caused her to lose her eyelashes, eyebrows, and even some hair.
“These baby bangs are from six months ago,” Britney added, explaining how the accident “fizzled” her hair.
In the midst of the accident, she feared she might need medical attention. “The person I was with wouldn’t wake up, and I thought I’d have to go to the emergency room because my face was on fire,” she explained. She also described the intense pain, saying, "It hurt to just touch" her face.
After enduring hours of discomfort, Britney found some relief. “Finally, I took three Tylenol, which is like a really big deal for me," she said, comparing the painkiller to a much stronger medication. Thankfully, after that, she was able to sleep and start recovering.
While she didn’t confirm if she ended up going to the hospital, Britney assured fans that she's doing better now. "It was really bad, but all is good now," she said, adding with a shrug, "It happens."
Fans are happy to see Britney in good spirits following the accident, and her update serves as a reminder to always be cautious around fireplaces.
