Reality television star Jax Taylor has opened up about his ongoing mental health journey, revealing his recent diagnosis of Bipolar Disorder and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).
The 45-year-old, known for his role in "The Valley", shared an emotional note on his official Instagram account, detailing his experience of entering an intensive inpatient treatment facility and the challenges he’s faced.
Taylor began his candid post by recounting his recent decision to seek help. “A little over a month ago, I checked into an intensive inpatient treatment facility scared of the unknown and what I would find out about myself,” he wrote.
After years of sensing something was wrong but being unable to identify it, Taylor finally received a diagnosis of Bipolar Disorder and PTSD.
He described the journey as both challenging and transformative, noting, “It’s been a lot to process and an emotional time for me, however, I’ve come home to my son with a newfound sense of peace.”
Despite his fears for the future, Taylor expressed his commitment to self-improvement, stating, “My focus is just trying to be a better version of myself than I was yesterday.”
The reality star also took the time to thank his followers for their support during this difficult period.
“Mental health is a lifelong battle of not letting it control you but rather you learning to control it,” he added, emphasizing the ongoing nature of his mental health journey.
This revelation comes at a turbulent time for Taylor, as his estranged wife, Brittany Cartwright, recently filed for divorce after four years of marriage.
Cartwright is seeking full legal and physical custody of their 3-year-old son, Cruz Michael Cauchi.
For those unfamiliar, PTSD is a mental health condition triggered by traumatic events, while Bipolar Disorder, formerly known as manic depression, is characterized by extreme mood swings.
Both conditions can significantly impact an individual’s life, making Taylor’s openness about his struggles particularly poignant.
Taylor’s candidness about his mental health challenges sheds light on the importance of seeking help and the ongoing battle many face in managing these conditions.
