In an exclusive interview with Variety, Camila Cabello opened up about her commitment to projects that make a meaningful impact. The renowned Havana hitmaker recently took the spotlight at the 2024 Sundance Film Festival, showcasing her latest role in the film "Rob Peace," based on Jeff Hobbs' autobiography, "The Short and Tragic Life of Robert Peace."
During the interview, Cabello expressed her belief in the importance of telling stories like that of Rob Peace. "I felt a story like this needed to be told," she emphasized, hinting at the depth and complexity of the narrative.
The Cinderella actress went on to critique the oversimplified portrayal of individuals facing challenging circumstances. "People have told stories like this in an overly simplistic way... binary ways of looking at success and failure," she stated. Cabello highlighted the complexity of such life stories, asserting that the reality is far more nuanced.
Delving into her approach to choosing acting roles, the 26-year-old artist disclosed her only condition for taking on any gig. "For me, it's really whatever makes me feel something," she revealed. "It's not that thought out for me. It's whatever feels new or challenging, or what I haven't done before," she added, showcasing her dedication to roles that evoke genuine emotion and present fresh challenges.
Cabello, known for her past relationship with Shawn Mendes, plays a significant role as the love interest of the protagonist in "Rob Peace." As she continues to diversify her career with impactful projects, her commitment to authenticity and emotional connection remains at the forefront.
