An audition tape featuring pop icon Britney Spears for the role of Allie Hamilton in the classic film "The Notebook" has leaked online.
The revelation came to light through an extract from her upcoming memoir, "The Woman In Me", where Spears opened up about her brief venture into acting.
In her memoir, Spears candidly expressed the challenges she faced during her acting career, particularly in her lead role in the 2002 movie "Crossroads".
She revealed, "My problem wasn’t with anyone involved in the production but with what acting did to my mind." She further explained her struggle with method acting, stating, "I really became this other person. Some people do method acting, but they’re usually aware of the fact that they’re doing it. But I didn’t have any separation at all."
The leaked audition tape, which was shared by casting director Matthew Barry with The Daily Mail, showcased Spears' screen test alongside Ryan Gosling, who played Noah Calhoun in the film.
Spears reminisced about the casting process, revealing that it had come down to her and Rachel McAdams for the iconic role. Despite the opportunity to work with Gosling again after their time on "The Mickey Mouse Club," Spears expressed relief that she didn't pursue the part. She noted, "If I had, instead of working on my album In the Zone, I’d have been acting like a 1940s heiress day and night."
Fans and film enthusiasts are buzzing with excitement over this unexpected glimpse into Spears' acting journey, shedding light on a pivotal moment that could have reshaped her career.
