'This Is Us' Actor Ron Cephas Jones Passes Away at 66 Due to Long-Standing Health Issue

Ron Cephas Jones, the talented actor who gained fame through his portrayal of William Hill on the hit TV series "This Is Us," has passed away at the age of 66.

A spokesperson for Ron Cephas Jones confirmed the sad news to PEOPLE on Saturday. The esteemed actor's demise was attributed to an enduring pulmonary ailment.

The representative's statement paid homage to Jones' remarkable career and his impact on those fortunate enough to cross paths with him. "Throughout the course of his career, his warmth, beauty, generosity, kindness and heart were felt by anyone who had the good fortune of knowing him," the declaration expressed.

Jones commenced his journey at the Nuyorican Poets Cafe and carried his passion for the stage throughout his illustrious career, culminating in a Tony nomination and a Drama Desk Award for his standout performance in "Clyde's" on Broadway.

"Ron’s inner-beauty and soul was evident to the huge audience from his multi-Emmy award winning performance on This is Us," the statement noted. He leaves behind his daughter, Jasmine Cephas Jones, to cherish his memory.

Jones' legacy was cemented by his portrayal of William Hill, the biological father of Randall Pearson (played by Sterling K. Brown), on the beloved show "This Is Us." His exceptional talents earned him the guest acting Emmy accolade in both 2018 and 2020.
