Hannah Montana actor Mitchel Musso has spoken out after getting arrested for alleged theft and being drunk in public.

The 32-year-old actor, known for playing Oliver Oken on the Disney Channel show, strongly denied both accusations when talking to PEOPLE magazine on Wednesday.

Musso was arrested in Rockwall, Texas, on a Saturday evening, as reported by the Rockwall Police Department.

The police had received a call about a disturbance at a hotel. Someone had entered the hotel, started eating a bag of chips, and left without paying after being asked to pay for them.

Musso's version of events is different. He explains that after spending four hours wave surfing on a lake near Dallas, he went to the hotel wearing only board shorts.

He says a hotel employee acted oddly, took the chips from his hand, and yelled at him about his clothes. Musso offered to pay, but the employee threatened to call the police. Musso eventually told the employee to call the cops.

When the police arrived, Musso was surprised. He was taken in by around 30 police officers, which was scary for him. He claims they recognized him since he's known in his hometown.

He was arrested partly due to unpaid traffic tickets from 2019 and because he had outstanding warrants. Musso thinks being a public figure might have played a role.

After being arrested, Musso spent the night in jail and was released after paying a $1,000 bond. He admitted that being in jail wasn't enjoyable, but he did manage to get his favorite snack, Ruffles potato chips.
