Demi Lovato continues to experience ongoing challenges with her vision and hearing due to the repercussions of her overdose incident in 2018. Despite the enduring effects on her health, the 30-year-old songstress remains steadfast in her belief that her past experiences have shaped her into the person she is today, devoid of any regrets.
During an interview with SiriusXM DJ Andy Cohen, Lovato expressed her perspective, stating, "Well, I wouldn't change my path because I don't have any regrets. The closest thing that I get to a regret is when I overdosed and I wish somebody had told me, one, that I was beautiful, because I didn't believe it. And two, I wish that someone would've told me that if you just sit with the pain, it passes. It actually caused a disability. I have vision impairment and hearing impairment to this day."
The popular artist, known for her hit song "Cool for the Summer," now finds herself unable to drive due to her vision-related issues. Acknowledging the impact of these challenges, she candidly admitted that they serve as a constant reminder to remain steadfast on the right path. Lovato explained, "I don't drive because I have blind spots in my vision."
This daily reminder, as she described it, bears significant weight on her consciousness. Even when she gazes upon someone's face, the blind spots persist, reinforcing her commitment to avoid reliving such circumstances. She stated, "It's a daily constant reminder. You know, anytime I look at something, like, I have blind spots in my vision when I look at your face, and so it's a constant reminder to stay on the right path because I never want that to happen again."
In a previous disclosure, Lovato revealed that she was perilously close to losing her life during the overdose incident. Surviving this harrowing ordeal has instilled in Lovato a profound understanding of the arduous journey of recovery and the necessity for rebuilding trust over time.
