Responding to the incident, the Italian singer took to his Instagram Story on Thursday to express remorse for his handling of the situation, suggesting that the video was filmed after he had split from Soleri. Translated from his statement, David wrote, "I am very sorry this video came out, it was not how I wanted to handle the situation and it was my mistake."
David, a member of the band that triumphed in the 2021 Eurovision Song Contest, clarified that he and Soleri had parted ways a few days prior, emphasizing that no acts of betrayal were involved. He further pleaded for respect for the sensitivity of the moment, expressing his hope that Giorgia Soleri's reputation would not be adversely affected.
