Lady Gaga's debut single, "Just Dance," has achieved a milestone that few songs have reached. On April 12, the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) certified the hit song as Diamond, signifying that it has sold 10 million units.
This comes on the heels of the 15th anniversary of the song's release. With this achievement, Gaga becomes the first woman to receive the RIAA's Digital Diamond Award, and she now has three Diamond records under her belt, following "Bad Romance" and "Poker Face."
"Just Dance" was the lead single off Gaga's debut album, "The Fame," and it reached the top of the Billboard Hot 100 chart in the winter of 2009. The song spent three weeks at number one and became the first of Gaga's five number one hits, which include "Poker Face," "Born This Way," "Shallow" with Bradley Cooper, and "Rain on Me" with Ariana Grande.
To celebrate the 15th anniversary of the song's release, Lady Gaga has released limited-edition merchandise from every era of her past albums, including "The Fame Monster," "Born This Way," "Artpop," "Joanne," and "Chromatica." She has also released select pieces dedicated to "Love for Sale," her 2021 collaborative LP with Tony Bennett, and her contribution to the "Top Gun: Maverick" soundtrack.
Aside from her musical achievements, Lady Gaga has been busy with her acting career. She recently finished filming "Joker: Folie à Deux," a crime caper that serves as a sequel to 2019's "Joker." In the film, Gaga plays Harley Quinn, the deranged partner of Gotham City's most notorious villain, played by Joaquin Phoenix.
"Just Dance" continues to be a fan favorite and a testament to Lady Gaga's immense talent and creativity. The song's Diamond certification is a remarkable achievement and a testament to the enduring appeal of this pop superstar.
