Spanish actress Ana Obregón becomes a grandmother through surrogacy, fulfilling late son's final wish.
Recently, Obregón revealed to HOLA! that she has welcomed a baby girl named Ana Sandra Lequio Obregón (nicknamed Anita) via surrogate.
The child is not her daughter, but her granddaughter and is biologically related to her late son, Aless, who passed away in May 2020 at the age of 27 from cancer.
Obregón shared that the process of conceiving Aless' baby began on the same day that her son passed away, as it was his final wish.
The samples were preserved in the United States, and the legal process took three years to complete.
While Spain prohibits all forms of surrogacy, Obregón explained that the baby was carried by a US-based surrogate, and legally, the child will be her daughter but will always know that Obregón is her grandmother.
The actress revealed that the process of conceiving Aless' baby was a long and challenging road, but it is what has kept her alive.
