Canadian pop star Shawn Mendes recently returned from a trip to Mexico where he spent some time under the sun.
On March 26, the 24-year-old crooner shared several photos on his Instagram account, including a few that highlighted his sunburned upper body.
Despite the painful-looking shade of red, Mendes appeared to be in good spirits, as evidenced by one of the captionless photos where he is seen laughing off the sting of his scorched skin.

Another photo shows him facing away from the camera, with the outline of a tank top temporarily stamped on his back.
The Instagram photos immediately went viral, and fans have been loving them. Alongside the sunburn photos, Mendes also shared pictures of his trip to Mexico City, where he explored the pyramids of Teotihuacan, listened to street musicians, and visited a cluttered bookstore.
However, it was the sunburn photos that garnered the most attention from his friends and followers, including One Republic’s Ryan Tedder, who commented, “Protek that skin bruhhhh.”

This is not the first time that Mendes has faced the elements, as he recently posted a video of himself taking an underwear-only dip into an ice-cold river shortly after the winter holidays.
Just a few days before his trip to Mexico, the musician refuted rumors that he is in a romantic relationship with Sabrina Carpenter, whom he has been photographed with a couple of times in the past month or so.
