The novel, entitled "Nineteen Steps", is a historical fiction inspired by the real-life story of her grandmother's experience during World War II.
In a video posted on her Instagram account on March 24, the 19-year-old actress revealed that her novel will be published on September 12, 2023.
Millie further shared that the book tells the story of Nellie Morris, an 18-year-old woman living with her family in Bethnal Green, in London's East End, during the Second World War. When a tragic accident occurs during an air raid one night, Nellie's life is changed forever.
In a statement released by publisher William Morrow, Millie revealed that the story is very personal and close to her heart, and was inspired by her Nanny Ruth's experiences during the war.
William described the novel as an "epic story of love, loss and secrets", and teased that Nellie's world is torn apart when the truth about that night is revealed.
Millie expressed her hope that readers will find the true spirit of love and strength in "Nineteen Steps", and that she is honored to keep her family's story alive. The book is set to be published under the HarperCollins imprint William Morrow.
