NBA star Ja Morant has reportedly entered a counseling program in Florida following a gun incident, during which he was seen displaying a firearm in an Instagram Live video at a Colorado nightclub earlier this month.

While there was not enough evidence to charge anyone with a crime, the Memphis Grizzlies suspended him. ESPN reporter Adrian Wojnarowski announced on Monday, March 13 that Morant has checked into a counseling facility, and there is no timeline for his return to active play with the team.

According to sources, Morant has turned to his Christian faith in the wake of the incident, attending church on Sunday and re-committing himself to Jesus Christ. He was staying in a small California town near his childhood home to reconnect with his family and his faith before checking into the counseling facility.

In a statement, Morant took full responsibility for his actions and apologized to his family, teammates, coaches, fans, partners, the city of Memphis, and the entire Grizzlies organization. He plans to take some time away to get help and work on learning better methods of dealing with stress and his overall well-being.

Earlier this month, it was reported that Morant planned to go to rehab to address issues related to excess alcohol intake. Despite allegations of long-term struggles with alcoholism, Morant's precise condition is unknown.
