Former NFL player Peyton Hillis is currently in intensive care after he heroically saved his children from drowning in an accident in Pensacola, Florida.

Hillis' uncle, Greg Hillis, confirmed in a Facebook post that Hillis is still unconscious and experiencing problems with his kidneys and lungs, but added that the doctors say he is improving.

Hillis was airlifted to the hospital after the incident and is being held in the intensive care unit.

Hillis' family has requested that people pray for his recovery. Hillis, who is 36 years old, played in the NFL from 2008 to 2014 for teams including the Denver Broncos, Cleveland Browns, Kansas City Chiefs, and New York Giants.

In addition to his successful football career, Hillis also appeared on the cover of the Madden '12 video game and has pursued acting since retiring from the NFL.

Hillis is currently in a relationship with actress Angela Cole, his co-star from the indie thriller film The Hunting. He also has two children with his ex-wife Amanda Hillis.

The details of the drowning incident have not been released to the public, but it is clear that Hillis' quick action and bravery in saving his children's lives was instrumental in preventing a tragic outcome.

We wish Peyton Hillis a speedy recovery and send our best wishes to his family during this difficult time.
