Chris Evans Reveals He's Happy Disney Restored Gay Kiss In The Film 'Lightyear'

Chris Evans recently revealed that while he is pleased Disney has restored the gay kiss in Pixar's new film, "Lightyear," he is also frustrated that this topic even needs to be discussed.

Specifically, the acclaimed actor said that adding the kiss to the animated film was "wonderful." Chris voices Buzz Lightyear in the movie.

A furious backlash from "Lightyear" employees caused Disney to restore the gay kiss. In the movie, Alisha Hawthorne (Uzo Aduba) kisses another female character.

About the decision to restore the kiss, Chris confessed he felt "frustrated" it even had to be discussed. His hope is for it to become "the norm" on screen.

"It's nice, and it's wonderful, it makes me happy," Chris said during an interview with Variety. "It's tough to not be a little frustrated that it even has to be a topic of discussion."

He added, "The goal is that we can get to a point where it is the norm, and that this doesn't have to be some uncharted waters, that eventually this is just the way it is."

Following the restoration of the gay kiss in "Lightyear," the United Arab Emirates banned the film from cinemas.
