During an interview with Health, the singer shared how traumatized she was growing up as a child star.

The singer revealed that she suffered from depression and anxiety quite frequently. She added that it was extremely difficult for her to overcome a mind that was constantly second-guessing herself.
Growing up in the limelight at a young age, it was expected that Christina would experience these challenges. When she got her first taste of fame on "Star Search," she was only an eight-year-old.
She was a member of the New Mickey Mouse Club at age 13 along with Justin Timberlake and Britney Spears.

According to Christina, she has been working since she was seven and feels a strong sense of guilt when she is not.
Furthermore, she explained that she was pitted against her peers as a child entertainer.

In order to make it through all of it, she said she needed to give herself permission to breathe because it was a weird place to grow up in.
The experiences weren't enough to hold her back.
