Britney Spears has had a lot on her plate these last few years. However, her greatest challenge has been gaining custody of Sean and Jayden, whom she shares with ex-husband Kevin Federline.

Twelve years ago, Spears lost control of her own life after the courts deemed her to be under the legal guardianship of her father, Jamie Spears. Then, Federline went on to gain primary custody of their children when they were 2 and 3.
Since then, the Pop Princess fought to regain custody of Sean and Jayden. Recently, she got 30% custody of the young men, but controversy still haunts the family.
In March 2020, Jayden slammed his grandfather Jamie in an Instagram Live video, accusing him of treating his mother poorly and demeaningly.
Federline later closed his son's Instagram account, but not before the video of him adhering to the #FreeBritney movement had gone viral. Jamie and his grandsons have a strained relationship, and Federline accused Jamie of abusing Sean in September 2019.
Federline's attorney, Mark Vincent Kaplan, claimed that the incident occurred when the boys were visiting their grandparents' house with their mom. Jamie acted violently against Sean in front of Jayden.
Kaplan disclosed that Spears immediately removed the boys from the premises. For his part, Federline did not press charges against Jamie, but the incident led him to revoke the custody agreement that would have allowed Spears to have shared custody of Sean and Jayden.
Despite only having 30% custody of her children, Spears is financially responsible for them all. Aside from paying for tuition and clothing expenses, the singer must pay Federline $35,000 a month in child support.
Recently, Federline has won an increase in the amount, which was previously $20,000. The reason given is that as Sean and Jayden grew, so did their financial needs. Federline justified his hefty child support payments by ensuring their sons enjoy the same lifestyle as when they were with their mom.
Since 2017, Spears has been dating model Sam Asghari. The couple started a relationship after Asghari worked on the pop star's "Slumber Party" music video in 2016. They have remained together ever since.
The children of Spears appear to like Asghari. Jayden even referred to him as a "good guy." As for his grandmother Lynne Spears, Jayden once called her "the best grandmother." Jayden stirred controversy with his claim that his mom told him she might be leaving the music industry.
Meanwhile, Spears reportedly spent a few hours with her boys ahead of Christmas, and recently, Sean uploaded a photo of himself with his mom and Jayden on Snapchat.
It's been a long road, but Spears seems to be overcoming obstacles one step at a time. And albeit she still has a long way to go, the partial custody of Sean and Jayden is a triumph for her.
