"I tried to be funny. I don't think anybody got it."
Sam Asghari answered questions from his Instagram followers, including one fan who wanted to know his favorite Britney Spears music video.
Asghari first met Spears in 2016 when he was picked to star in her music video for "Slumber Party." In an interview with Men's Health in 2018, he said how he tried breaking the ice between takes with a joke, which wasn't taken well at first.
"She said, 'Hi, I'm Britney,' and I said, 'I'm sorry. What's your name again?'" he recalled. "I tried to be funny. I don't think anybody got it."
Eventually, however, the approach worked as Spears asked him out for sushi after they traded numbers.
Asghari further explained that nobody knew they were in a relationship after the video was released, adding that neither he nor the "Toxic" singer had the intention to remain just friends.

"How dare you ask me that question," the model responded. "I love every single video. She's extremely iconic and I don't think any artist will ever reach that level."
