The debut single of Pop Princess Britney Spears, titled "...Baby One More Time," was released on October 23, 1998. The song served as the lead single for her debut album of the same title.

Composed by Max Martin and co-produced by Rami, the song was initially intended for Backstreet Boys and TLC, under the title "Hit Me Baby One More Time." However, the song was turned down by both groups.

In contrast, Spears instantly fell in love with the song and desired to make it her own. After recording it, "...Baby One More Time" quickly topped the charts in over twenty countries worldwide, including the Billboard Hot 100 and UK Singles Chart.

The song is regarded as one of the best-selling singles of all time and earned Spears two MTV Europe Music Awards for Best Pop and Best Song. In 1999, she was also recognized with the Teen Choice Awards for Choice Single and a Billboard Music Award for Female Singles Artist of the Year.

Rolling Stone Magazine listed "...Baby One More Time" as the number one debut single of all time and ranked it at number twenty-five in the Greatest Pop Songs since 1963. Furthermore, the song earned Spears her first Grammy Award nomination for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance in 2000.
