The supermodel has stayed private about her pregnancy. She has not even uploaded any pictures of her growing bump on social media.
"Obviously, we wish they could've announced it on our own terms, but we're very excited and happy and grateful for everyone's well-wishes and support," she said.
Hadid explained that she kept a low profile so as not to take attention away from the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and Black Lives Matter movement.
Gigi Hadid had major heart-eyes for her boyfriend Zayn Malik in a new photo she shared on Instagram.
The 25-year-old supermodel, who announced in April that she and Malik, 27, were expecting their first child together, captioned the adorable photo, "baby daddy."
The picture, which already amassed nearly seven million likes, shows the couple cozying up together while locking lips.
In April, Hadid confirmed her pregnancy to acclaimed talk show host Jimmy Fallon during a remote appearance on "The Tonight Show."
"Obviously, we wish they could've announced it on our own terms, but we're very excited and happy and grateful for everyone's well-wishes and support," she said.
Apparently, the supermodel was referring to the reports that surface before her confirmation. Earlier this month, Hadid gave fans a glimpse of her bump in an Instagram Live feed.
"I have been taking a lot of pictures of my bump and sending them to my friends and family, and it's been really cute and exciting I having been trying to document it because people are saying don't miss it," she said.

"Right now I just want to experience it and I write in my journal a lot and I just don't want to worry about waking up every day and look cute and post something," she said.
"A lot of people are confused by why I am not sharing more but I am pregnant through a pandemic," Hadid added, "obviously my pregnancy is not the most important thing going on in the world, that's in part why I didn't feel a need to share, apart from with my family and friends."
She continued: "Obviously a lot of people have lost lives due to coronavirus - that was in the beginning of quarantining and it's still happening - and then me moved into obviously the re-emergence of the BLM movement and I thought our presence on social media should be used for that."
Hadid has been in an on-again, off-again relationship with Malik since late 2015. She previously dated Cody Simpson from 2013 to 2015.
