"This was my very first song that I put out into the universe," she said. "My first song, and by God's grace, it also was a number one song, and it lasted on the Billboard charts for eight weeks."
Ciara recently shared how her debut single "Goodies" that put her on the map was nearly given to Pop Princess Britney Spears.
Ciara released the song in 2004, and it immediately went on to the top of the Billboard Hot 100, as reported by E! News. However, that almost did not happen because Jive Records thought about giving the song to Spears.
Ciara made the revelation during an episode of "Level Up Radio with Ciara" on Apple Music Hits. According to her, Jive Records made her audition to sing "Goodies" after composing it for other musicians.

"I had to reaudition again, to be picked up and to be made a priority on the label," Ciara explained. "I did that, had a showcase, rocked it."
"Not knowing that behind the scenes, there was a conversation about this song being potentially taken from me and given to an artist like Britney Spears, who was on the same roster as me," she added. "I knew that it was a very, very special record."
Ciara went on to say that "Goodies" is very special to her because it is a record which she really was a part of making.
"This was my very first song that I put out into the universe," she said. "My first song, and by God's grace, it also was a number one song, and it lasted on the Billboard charts for eight weeks. It was just kind of surreal to see that my dream was coming true."
According to IMDb, Ciara was born Ciara Princess Harris in October 1985, in Austin, Texas. She grew up on several army bases due to her father being in the United States Army.
During her teens, Ciara settled in Atlanta, along with her family. She once confessed that watching Destiny's Child perform on a TV show while staying home from school motivated her to pursue a career in music.
Later on, the singer would join a girl group and worked on her songwriting. In the long run, Ciara decided to leave the group.
She then got a publishing deal and found a "musical soul mate" when she met producer Jazze Pha.
With the help of Jazze Pha, she was signed by "LaFace Records" executive L.A. Reid. Ciara then started production on her debut album, "Goodies."
